Digital and Media Literacy

The world operates in a world driven by technological advancements. When we take one step forward the world is standing by waiting for the next one, no one is content with the technology on hand, were all waiting for the next bigger and better thing coming. With these advancements, the world has to maintain their digital literacy. Digital literacy is the ability to find, evaluate, utilize, share, and create content using information technologies and the Internet. This ability must be built from a very young age. While we are learning literacy, how to read and write, the newly needed skills of digital literacy are necessary to make advancements in our rapidly developing world. Countries such as Spain and India are promoting growth within their borders, and companies such as Intel are tempting to make strides in digital literacy education.

While it may seem like a complete necessity, how would someone function in our world without Digital Literacy, many are uneducated in this aspect. In fact, it is such a newly needed skill that there are no set ways on how to measure digital literacy, but all in all there is a pretty good idea of where everyone is at. Internationally, about 23% of adults are not digitally literate, a huge margin when it comes to how important this is becoming.
